Vein Treatments

Sclerotherapy and laser treatments for spider veins and varicose veins.

Spider veins and varicose veins are a common cosmetic concern that can also cause discomfort. At Rao Dermatology, we offer effective treatments to eliminate unwanted veins and improve the appearance and comfort of your legs.

Sclerotherapy is our primary treatment for spider veins and small varicose veins. This minimally invasive procedure involves injecting a solution directly into the affected veins, causing them to collapse and gradually fade from view. Most patients see significant improvement after 2 to 3 treatment sessions.

For larger or deeper veins, we may use laser vein treatment, which delivers targeted light energy to seal the vein. We also address facial veins and broken blood vessels using specialized vascular lasers for precise, effective treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many sclerotherapy sessions will I need?

Most patients achieve their desired results with 2 to 4 sclerotherapy sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. The number of sessions depends on the number and size of veins being treated. Some veins may require more than one injection to fully disappear.

Is there downtime after vein treatment?

Sclerotherapy has minimal downtime. You can return to normal activities immediately, though we recommend wearing compression stockings for 1 to 2 weeks and avoiding strenuous exercise for a few days. Treated veins may appear darker initially before fading over several weeks.
