The skin’s natural exfoliation alone is sometimes not enough to treat stubborn fine lines, age spots and blackheads that plague the face’s appearance.
Microdermabrasion treatments, offered proudly by Rao Dermatology, may be the solution to these cosmetic concerns, and a comfortable, minimally invasive one at that.
If these issues hit close to home and the description of the treatment seems appealing to you, contact us at one of our offices. We currently have locations in Manhattan, Atlantic Highlands, Woodbridge, Fresno, and Hanford.
How does Microdermabrasion Work?
Microdermabrasion involves a mildly abrasive tool that often utilizes small crystals in order to “sand down” the outermost layer of the skin, manually exfoliating it and bringing fresher layers of the dermis to the surface.
The process thickens the structural proteins present underneath the skin and strengthens their ability to keep the skin taut and firm. Patients will be allowed to leave afterwards, although it is advised that they apply a sunscreen or protective lotion to the treated skin in order to protect it from sun damage and to help the treatment work effectively.
What Makes Microdermabrasion Special?
The Microdermabrasion treatment does not involve the use of chemical agents, lessening the chance of triggering allergies and reactions that may further irritate the skin.
Microdermabrasion is also a non-surgical process and requires no incision into the skin to be properly performed, making this treatment ideal for patients who cannot afford the lengthy recovery time that often comes with surgical procedures.
In fact, no downtime should be required following the Microdermabrasion treatment. In most cases, Women and men will be able to comfortably go about the rest of their day after the procedure has been completed.
The treatment is also brief, and typically will only require up to a half hour to finish.
Is it Safe?
The F.D.A has approved Microdermabrasion because of it’s clinically proven ability to remove dead skin cells and treat damaged skin.
However, in order to insure safety on an individual basis, one of our professionals will sit down and have a conversation with you regarding your prior medical history. This is done to discover potentially complicating conditions that may interfere with the treatment’s efficiency and the patient’s safety.
Am I Qualified?
A consultation will verify whether a patient is a suitable candidate, though most healthy men and women in need of the treatment will be applicable.
Contact us, schedule your own consultation appointment and find out for yourself how a Microdermabrasion treatment can change your appearance for the better. We look forward to hearing from you and answering any questions you may have.
